Rollerblading
if anyone was interested in learning how to rollerblade! -
or, if you’ve never considered it before:
it’s like running, except it’s [not bad for your joints], like ice skating except [you can do it anywhere, outside], like skiing except [it’s free, in summer, no heavy, no pain]
it’s like driving, except [you feel the gravel beneath your feet], like biking except [the wind lifts you from your arms], like dancing except… no that’s kind of hard… like dancing but
if you fall you’re doing something right
on rollerskates,
i pump up the hill - i hike up the hill - i thrust up the hill
i glide through the straights - i dance through the straights - i fly through the straights
i carve down the slope - i rush down the slope - i fall down the slope - i plummet - stumble skid nose-dive blast down the slope
i T-stop, lightly, left foot behind my right
slow down, cross-over, right over my left
up the driveway, plow-stop, shake it off
it’s 8pm, the sun has set, and i’m home
thank you to akir and charles for “awesome verbs that describe the experience of going down a slope really fast”, and for their support through their asian time zones
